Listen to this refreshingly honest interview in Chloe Pedley from Polkadotsi.com shares her story of how she got Back pain relied by challenging beliefs and how she learned to lean on fences to get her groove back. In a very vulnerable interview we talk about stress incontinence,(peeing while running or jumping) kenesio tape, pool noodles, the value of playing and doing something different, drop bears and more.
Meet Chloe!
I’m a mum of four who has struggled with long-term back pain. Desperate to continue my work as a doula and personal trainer, I has tried several treatments ranging from snake oil to legitimate medicine to treat my pain. After doing a course focusing on “Motion is lotion” and “progress in moments not weeks” I’ve finally unlocked the ability to reduce my pain, live around it, and no longer take back pain lying down!!!!!!!!
I’ve been in pain since I was 16 ( I’m 34 now) I have lost a lot to my pain over the years, my confidence, my faith in my work as a personal trainer, my fitness, my figure…
I love to run – my pain prevented that. I love to play badminton, my pain prevented that. On bad days my pain prevented me from leaving my bed at all.
I love to lift ( weights) , my pain prevented me. I thought I could never deadlift… because of my pain.
How did you find relief from back pain?
Desperation is what finally changed things! I was SO sick of being in pain, being out of control. I wanted to take charge of my life again. I wanted to run, I was planning on doing it in spite of my pain and prepared to suffer what I feared would be long-term permanent injury.
Things started changing when I meet Antony Lo and for the first time realizing I could jump without peeing! It set a process in motion that forced me to take charge of my body again. (Also getting to hang out with amazing inspiring people like yourself!!)
There’s still pain – but it’s not controlling me. I choose what I do. I try new things, I experiment with my body. I lean on the proverbial fence of the edge of my ability, gently pushing it out.
I am no longer afraid of what I can’t do, but Astounded with what I CAN do.
Watch Chloe Move without peeing while running or jumping on a trampoline!!!!
Try something different. Our bodies are pretty amazing, and our brains even more so. There might be hope in trying something weird, wonderful, and new.
